Optimasi Desain Freeze Valve untuk Sistem Keselamatan Pasif pada Molten Salt Reactor
Doctoral Research at Bandung Institute of Technology (2024)
Research on passive safety systems for Generation IV Molten Salt Reactors. The study investigates freeze valve designs that automatically open when core temperatures rise following reactor shutdown, preventing meltdown by draining fuel salt to emergency storage. The methodology combines computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation with deep learning models to optimize geometric variations using FLiNaK fuel salt and Hastelloy-N materials.

This research applies recurrent neural networks with long short-term memory (LSTM) to forecast melting temperatures in freeze valve systems. The methodology includes creating synthetic datasets representative of freeze valve conditions with time-series normalization preprocessing. Performance evaluation utilized mean squared error and mean absolute error metrics.
